Deckard!

It's been a while since I uploaded anything to the blog. Reason is just that I'm doing some freelance work for a game company which lives me with almost no time for personal stuff. However, today after work, I wanted to see if I could resculpt some of my first heads. Deckard I belive was the second head I did for a short movie named The Doc, which we made during second year.

Here are the result. However, I must mention that I couldn't find the original ztl (zbrush file) only the lowpoly version, so the picture doesn't quite justify how the second sculpt was. What I do find interesting is the fact that I now feel more confident with the anatomy of the head, and that is really great to see!

TB2 Alien creature lowpoly render

Here are some TB2 renders with the latest alien creature from the masterclass. This is the lowpoly model which I think came out quite nicely :)

I used diffuse, spec, gloss, transmission, normal and hight map.
For the rock and ground, I used quixel scanned materials in TB2.

Radiator!

And heres a radiator! Not a 100% (still wip) But I decided to go to bed, so here is what I ended up with.

Wanted to create a coffee machine and here is the TB2 render. There is no unwrap so there lack some details, which I will be doing, just wanted to upload my result :)

Whats great is that when you have created a material, you could just save it out for later!
I know it is a small thing, but I really love that!

Ocean - TB2

Bought Toolbag2 as a Christmas present to myself!

And today, this lovely snowy Sunday, I have been trying it out! And wow, what an amazing engine!
I created a simple square plane from 3ds max and exported it to obj. Imported the mesh to TB2 and started playing around with the materials. Used google to find a ocean texture, and used Knald to generate the different maps I needed!

Here is the final result!


What you see is a hdr map in the background, an external light to get the light stream in the water, a simple plane from 3ds max with, normal map, displacement, gloss, specular map and diffuse. I also used the "skin" material to get some translucency.

Quite happy with the result! 

Alien / Creature full body concept 1 update!

After some really good feedback from a friend of mine, I did some changes to the model. I gave more love to the tale and fin also as you can see, he got (I have no idea what it's called) fish skin between his fingers! I have also changed his back legs a bit as they were quite thin earlier.
And last I did some polypainting!
I also want to mention that I got good feedback from my masterclass teacher. However he wanted me to give the polypainting on his legs and arms and feet and fingers the same love as on his head. Also he mentioned that I should go crazy with the back fin!

Alien / Creature full body concept 1

Happy new year everyone!

Finally back from my everlasting long Christmas holiday!
I had a really good time with family and all, however, I do have to mention that it was a relief to get back and start sculpting again! The fingers was itching in other terms!

Anyway, still got couple of classes left with Justin Goby Fields masterclass - Concept for production.
This week and last (before Christmas) we are doing a full alien / creature body and not just the bust / head n' shoulders. So I started yesterday during yesterdays class!

Just a concept atm and wip!
But I thought I'd share it :)

Marvelous Designer

So i have doodled around in Marvelous Designer. Marvelous Designer is a program where you can create all sort of cloth. Trousers, dress, suits, jackets, gloves, you name it! Atm, i created a dress, which didn't take to much time to do. There is still much to learn, and I think I can incorporate this into my workflow! ;)
As I am able to import the mesh to zbrush, where I can continue to sculpt and work with the clothing!

Hard Surface Modeling!

Hi guys, been couple of days since the last update, so I wanted to show you one of the projects I'm working on atm!

I have started working on the high poly sculpt for the survival suit which I showed a concept render of earlier. I'm only using zbrush and learning some new techniques along the way! And It is really great! However, It is still a wip, therefore you are able to see some of the topology in the surface. But hey, it is a wip! :)

Briseis Templeton - wip

Briseis Templeton which is one of the characters in the universe me and a friend are creating, is getting along nicely. I created a concept for her scifi suit earlier, and here are the head. It is still in wip. The head is rendered in marmoset 1 and some post in photoshop. The logo is symbolizing her rank and position back at earth, however, she is still using it now, when she is a rebel! (won't spoil more story yet...)

Update - survival suit!

Today I have finished the design on the suit and start working on some weapons and accessories. Like the sniper and a knife (which you can't see atm) and some clip pockets, grenades and such. Anywho here is the finished concept! The next step here are now to take it from concept to production!

Concept - Human Survival suit - WIP

Hi guys! As one of the masterclasses are about creating concept for production, I decided to try to create a suit which the humans need on the planet if they want to survive, as the gravity is much stronger on this planet, which I am not going to talk about now. However, Quite happy with the result, so far, and I really enjoy this kind of work. Where I try to create something new and still trying to solve the puzzle if it will actually work. No, it won't now as it still in the concept phase, but you know, have some faith!

African Male - Update - WIP

After some feedback from friends, I realised that the skull was just to low and my african male looked more like a neanderthal which is a pre extinct dead guy.. Race.. Anywho, so here is the change :) Still open for feedback, but I think I'm closer now than earlier! I have not gone into creating details, only the big shapes and overall form, just to mention that.

Homework - Facial muscles - African male


Quite satisfied with the results and progress throughout the day! For the muscles I used zsketch, were yesterday I used curveTube insert mesh brush. They have both pros and cons, but I think the zsketch workflow wins, as it was mych faster! Anyways, here are the result :)

Face Muscle Study - Masterclass homework - WIP

Here is a quick render presentation of the muscle study. I am far from done and this is only a speed study. The tools I used are dynamesh, zremesher, standard, move, curveTriFill and curveTube. The two last brushes was used to create the muscle mesh.

Alien Concept 1 - A step further


So I have been playing around with the first alien concept sculpt today. I wanted to take the model further, so retopologiezed, unwrapped and polypainted the alien. I then importet the model to Marmoset where I tweeked the render to my linking.
Used zRemesher to retopo and uwMaster to unwrap.
The map I used are: normal map, diffuse, spec, ao, emissive and detail. I rendered the model in Marmoset and then some post in photoshop.

This is only a couple of hours work, and I am really pleased with the results. Also, I know where I can shorten down time and be more effective. As I tweek alot in Marmorset today and tried to render out displacement maps. Which took forEVER! And in the end I ended up NOT using it... Anyways. here are my results! :) (sorry, it seems the pictures are a bit darker in the browser then in Photoshop... Can't seem to figure out why!)
