Doctor Worm

For the first time, I jumped in to the silhouette drawing. Never actually done it before! I started, but never finished: Since I have yet not found a love for drawing, I decided to do something about it today! Like, actually do some drawing at my free time. Been sitting here for couple of hours, and I think it is really fun! So much easier to see the design, and you can make several characters in a heartbeat (well, I can't, not yet!)
I don't think any of the silhouette is good enough yet, but keep working like this, and it will get better.
The values as well, really difficult, but to get better I need to continue with it, and push myself to do it!

Goal for today will be to produce several pictures like the one under! I hope to achieve at least 2 more. (mayby 3)

I started out with an empty Photoshop scene, and started with pure black on a grey canvas, and just doodled really, until I got something I was satisfied with. I than moved on to the next silhouette.
After the silhouette, I started on the values. Which I find really difficult, but I gave it a shot, and it looked horrible, but when i zoomed out, it didn't look so bad! Jordan, one of my house mates  recommended me to use the navigation window in PS, which I have Never ever used! So, I will give that a shot, in the next silhouette drawings.

The silhouettes you see here, are design ideas for one of our briefs. Basically make a worm, who is a doctor, and crazy, and evil, and he has a minion.

New Viking and armor concepts

So, after the presentation and stuff, I decided I liked the old model, but not as the main character in the game. Since he is supposed to be a Viking, he kinda need to look like it. Right now I'm not satisfied with the character, so I made a new one.

This character has a more powerful silhouette. The old character was to generic, but this one has more feel to it.

I decided to make couple of outfits for him too. I started out with him as casual, where he progress to get a cape made of an animal (eventually) and some hip pads. Further on he gets leather gloves, chest piece and biceps straps. The third one has chainmail and stronger boot, and in the last picture he has a helmet too.

This is just work in progress at the moment, but will add more details and armor to him. For now all the armor and clothing he has is realistic. Though, I will experiment with more unrealistic pauldrons and armor sets later on.

Female Sculpt

After working with digital sculpting for a while, I decided to attack the female body. You know what, I find it so difficult! Like, to make a male, is basically (very basically)  just to add some clay here, and than some there, and than some back around all over the place, and you got a male figure/face. A male is more chunky and square kinda. In contrast, the female is curvy and smooth.

Anyways, I decided to give it a go. Though, I only made the bust. I got really satisfied with the result and will continue on the sculpt when I got the time!

Main character model

In the last post I wrote that I wanted to work on the sculpt. So I started out with exporting the different parts as obj, and imported them in Topogun. When I had Retopologized all the parts I started to put them together in Zbrush. I unwrapped everything using Uw master. I than textured everything and exported the different maps.

This picture shows the done model in 3ds max's viewport (realistic shader with skylight)
(The sword and shield are done by one of my artist in the game team. They are not textured yet)

Here is also a turntable video of the model in Tpose.

This was just a quick vturntable ideo made for our first presentation about the game at Uni!

New enemy for Odin's Wrath

New enemy for the game is made! It is a water Element. The sculpt were made in about an hour, and the whole process from scratch to finish took about 3 hours.

The retopo'd model is 716 tris.

Program used, Zbrush (mainly) Topogun, and 3ds max!

One more Viking sculpt

In this sculpt, I focused more on the armor, rather than the anatomy. I am quite satisfied with the sculpt. I really like the details and the harmony in the character. I made him more asymmetric,  by making different armor and details on each side. I think this is it, and will retopologize this guy, and see what happens!

Skull

So one of my artist in my game group asked me if I could make a skull. So I did!

I searched the interweb for pictures. Since I wanted it to be as anatomically correct as possible.

And when I was talking to a friend of mine, I suddenly remembered "Brook" in the Anime series "One Piece"
So I kinda had to add the afro!

One more sculpts for the Viking

One character sculpt for the main character. I tried to make the skirt look like animal skin. I am not sure if I completely got it, but not that far away. It does look more like leather maybe. When it comes to the muscles and anatomy, I personally think it is fairly alright, but I have still much to learn! I think the muscles look very mechanic at the moment though.

What is "Odin's Wrath"?

In one of my modules here at Teesside University, we are producing a game from scratch. I have never done anything like that before. I work together with 8 other people, where there is 3 programmers, 2 designers, 1 animator and 3 artist. Which work really well!
I am the character designer, and I will show some Zbrush concept on the different characters in the game and armor to the main character.

I will explain later what the game is about, and I will continue to upload content that I create.

Enjoy!
