Gun concept 01

First gun concept! In yesterdays Masterclass, we went through the workflow for creating sci fi guns. Here is what I came up with after the class. Do need to mention, that I get some really high Mass Effect wibes from it! But hey, it might just be me!

Hard Surface Modeling!

Hi guys, been couple of days since the last update, so I wanted to show you one of the projects I'm working on atm!

I have started working on the high poly sculpt for the survival suit which I showed a concept render of earlier. I'm only using zbrush and learning some new techniques along the way! And It is really great! However, It is still a wip, therefore you are able to see some of the topology in the surface. But hey, it is a wip! :)

Update - survival suit!

Today I have finished the design on the suit and start working on some weapons and accessories. Like the sniper and a knife (which you can't see atm) and some clip pockets, grenades and such. Anywho here is the finished concept! The next step here are now to take it from concept to production!

Mech Police

Wanted to learn couple of new techniques about concept art, where i make a hybrid between 3D sculpt and Photoshop. I sculpted first a mech in Zbrush, and rendered out several passes as used blending mode and draw on top of it, and this is the result I got :)
I wanted to learn more about photoshop and how i can use it in my workflow. I used between 45 and 60 min on the sculpt as I had no idea what to create and as I don't have any experience with mech sculpting.

However, got really satisfied with the result and want to continue this workflow! :)

Iron Man

Update on the Iron Man, forgot to post the final picture earlier as it has only been on my portfolio page, however, decided to upload it here as well. I wanted i learn about hardsurface modeling/ sculpting inside zBrush, and choose the Iron Man as my personal conquest. This is how it turned out and I am quite satisfied with it!

The model is modelled and textured by me. Used zbrush for modelling and dDo for texturing. The renderering and lighting however is done by a really good friend of me, Jørgen Herland (http://herlandgraphic.weebly.com/).

Together we did this wonderful piece, and for further work, the idea is to make new uw's and use multimaps, and not just one as we have used now.

Samurai Update - WIP

So after couple of weeks, the samurai is finally taking form. It has been a hassle, but also incredible fun!
So what have I learned during this process? Well, I have learned more about the insert-mesh-brushes and how to use them efficiently and not killing the computer in the process. And also how to create my own insert-mesh-brush.

Anyways, here she is (yes, the idea was she is supposed to be a girl/women, however, she looks more like a young asian boy...)

Female Samurai

Working on a new project where I am creating a female samurai. I got really inspired by the movie The Last Samurai and decided to go for it.

For the details I have made my own IMM brush, where i got all the knots and bolts which is on the armor. As for the plates, I'm using the Panel Loops function which is really helpful.

This is as far as I am now. This is the almost finished helmet.

Still working with silhouette concept - characters

Here is a concept where I work mainly with the silhouette and then fill in details as I progress. The gun is just a placeholder atm, as I haven't decided if I want to use a gun or swords yet. However, it is a sci fi inspired theme, with a hint of the japanese culture. Wanted to create a women like character, and I feel it came out quite nicely. I will be working more with the character, retopo it, unwrap and texture her eventually.

Iron man render!

The Iron man is almost done! Not 100 % satisfied with the material, but for now it is close enough :)
This is a decimated model from zbrush, and there is no unwrap on it, however, I am working on the new topology, but  I don't have time to finish it until after uni.

I am very happy with the final render, and the scratches looks good. When it is retopologized and unwrapped, I am then going to create both clean and several dirt textures :)

Ironman Update!

I have finally finished the model! Entirely in Zbrush! I have learned so much about hard surface modeling this project! However, I am not done yet! I have still to create the details and I need to retopo his hands and fix the unwrap because the texture as it is now does have some strange artifacts! So it should be done during the week! Can't wait!

More details been added!

Iron Man

As I have mentioned before, I am making an Iron Man. The reason for this, is to show that I am capable to do hard surface modeling, and it is for my portfolio.

I also want to use the SSS head I have made together with the suit, and see if I can come up with some good renders.

Here is the sketch I have done today.

The Iron man model sketch is done:

Have started the cleanup, and this is as far as I am at the moment.
I use Zbrush to everything, and this is a great way to learn more about hard surface modeling in zbrush and in general.
